How quick will I receive my garter?
Each garter is individually handcrafted, not mass-produced, ensuring every detail is perfect. We aim to dispatch within 7 working days, though during busy periods, this may take slightly longer.
For garters made from your wedding dress fabric, please allow at least 3 weeks for creation and dispatch. This extra time ensures your keepsake is crafted with the care and attention it deserves.
We ship all UK orders via Royal Mail 48 service, free of charge, so your garter arrives safely and on time.
Why do you need by wedding date?
Knowing your wedding date helps us ensure your garter is crafted and dispatched on time, especially during busy periods. Each piece is handmade to order, and this allows us to prioritize and schedule production so your garter arrives in perfect time for your special day.
Where do I wear my garter, and how do I measure for the perfect fit?
We recommend wearing your garter just above the knee, a few inches up, where your leg is at its narrowest. This ensures a comfortable and secure fit throughout your wedding day.
To measure, stand up and wrap a soft tape measure around your leg at this point. If you don’t have one, use a piece of ribbon or string, mark the length, and measure it against a ruler. The number in centimetres is your garter size.
Every garter is handmade to order, so providing an accurate measurement ensures a perfect, tailored fit.
Do I need to wear a garter on my wedding day?
Wearing a garter is a personal choice—some brides follow tradition, while others love it as a special keepsake. Whether you’re embracing the garter toss tradition or simply want a beautiful heirloom to treasure, a bridal garter adds a romantic touch to your wedding day.
How do I choose the right bridal garter style for me?
Think about your wedding style and dress—a delicate lace garter suits a vintage look, while a satin or silk garter feels modern and elegant. Consider if you want personalised embroidery, beading, or a touch of blue for your “something blue.” Choose a garter that feels comfortable, luxurious, and uniquely you.
Can I have my garter personalised with embroidery?
Yes! We offer personalised embroidery on many of our garters, including initials, wedding dates, or meaningful words.
What is the tradition behind the wedding garter?
The wedding garter tradition dates back centuries, symbolising good luck and fertility. Today, some brides wear a garter as part of the garter toss tradition, where the groom removes and tosses it to the wedding guests. Others simply wear it as a personal, romantic detail or a keepsake to pass down as an heirloom.
Should I have one garter or two (one to keep and one to toss)?
This depends on whether you want to participate in the garter toss tradition. Many brides choose to wear two garters—one to toss and one to keep as an heirloom. A simpler design is perfect for tossing, while a luxurious lace or embroidered garter makes a special keepsake.
What materials are used in your garters?
We use only the finest materials, including Nottingham lace, pure silk ribbons, soft silk tulle, and pretty trimmings. Our garters are handcrafted with heirloom-quality fabrics, ensuring they feel as beautiful as they look.
How long does it take to make and deliver my garter?
Each garter is handmade to order, ensuring every detail is perfect. We aim to dispatch within 7 working days, but during busy periods, this may take slightly longer. If your garter is made from your own wedding dress fabric, please allow at least 3 weeks for creation and dispatch.
Can I have a garter made from my wedding dress fabric or sentimental lace?
Yes! We love creating bespoke garters from sentimental fabrics like your mother’s wedding dress or Grandmothers dress lace. These custom designs take a little longer, so please allow at least 3 weeks for us to carefully craft your special piece.
How do I store my garter after the wedding to keep it as an heirloom?
To ensure your garter remains a cherished heirloom, we provide a soft cotton bag for safe storage and a beautiful gift box to protect it. Store your garter in its box with acid-free tissue paper, keeping it away from sunlight, moisture, and heat. Lay it flat to prevent creasing, and avoid folding or crushing delicate lace and embroidery. With proper care, your garter will stay in perfect condition for years to come.
